Saturday, 7th August 2021 - In conjunction with the Brunei Youth Convention (KBB), the Young Professionals Network Brunei (YPN Brunei) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, hosted the 3rd Edition of the Youth Town Hall Brunei at the Main Conference Hall, International Convention Centre, Berakas.

The Youth Town Hall Brunei is a platform set up in 2020, in conjunction with the National Youth Day to inculcate a solution driven, forward thinking mindset and collaborative youth community who are passionate about contributing to our national development.

The 3rd Edition themed “Future Ready: Scaling New Heights” provided the opportunity for youths to engage with two Ministers: Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R)  Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Defence II, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, and a Legislative Council Member and Chair of ASEAN Business Advisory Council 2021; Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Hj Abdul Rahman.

This edition focused on the importance of developing youth that are well-skilled, adaptable, resilient and employable who can be the agents of change, excellent in their respective fields and competitive globally. This session also explored how Brunei is shaping youth to be knowledgeable, entrepreneurial and innovative in the farming sector.

The session saw various discussions on the economy and Wawasan aspirations of Brunei, industry of the future, opportunities for youth in the farming sector and initiatives to build future-ready youth among many others.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to host the Youth Town Hall for the third time on this auspicious day for our youth. The Youth Town Hall was a spin-off from the Youth Roundtable that we convened online in July 2020 in conjunction with the National Youth Day where our youth collectively shared their aspirations and desire to pro-actively participate in national development which led to the convening of the inaugural Youth Town Hall in September 2020.  We strongly believe that providing our youth the platform to engage with our public figures and policy makers would contribute to the development of future-ready agents of change rooted in inclusivity and positive values.” Nurliyana Fatin  Arifin, Co-Founder, Young Professionals Network Brunei.

The Youth Town Hall Brunei session was facilitated by Nurliyana Fatin bte Arifin, Co-Founder, Young Professionals Network Brunei and Muhammad Fadli bin Lt. Col. (R) Hj Awang Zaini, Core Team, Young Professionals Network Brunei and Secretary-General, Majlis Belia Brunei.

The Youth Town Hall Brunei is supported by Majlis Belia Brunei (MBB) and Suara Kitani Studios as social media partner, and saw participation of over 600 participants from diverse backgrounds including public and private sector, NGOs, educational institutions among others from across four districts attended physically and virtually.

Present at the event was Yang Berhormat Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Legislative Council Members; and senior government officials.
