Dina uses her passion for life-long learning, the fascination with ideas and introspection to help inspire and create positive change for individuals in the wider community. Since being back in Brunei after graduating with BA (Hons) in Sociology from the University of Warwick UK, she has been actively volunteering
in various non-profit organizations that support her personal belief in empowering youths to better equip themselves for the future. In particular, she has contributed her skills in terms of facilitating motivational workshops as well as teaching critical thinking skills and effective communication to the public through a local organization Persatuan Kemajuan Insan whose efforts has impacted youth leadership in Brunei. In April 2018, she represented Brunei in Jakarta for the ASEAN Women’s Leadership Academy after being nominated under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders’ Initiative (YSEALI). Currently, she is involved in Global Shapers Bandar Seri Begawan as Curator and WeCare as Training Officer whose overall aim is to shape youth employability and provide humanitarian aid respectively. As an ASEAN MY World 2030 Advocate under the UN SDG Action Campaign and UNDP, she has founded the MY Actions For SDGs campaign in June 2018 in Brunei that aims to raise awareness on taking collective local action for the 2030 Agenda. She was awarded the Youth Service Award during National Youth Day in August 2018 and the ASEAN-Indian Youth Award in February 2019. As an Education Officer at a local Sixth Form Centre, she believes in creating a classroom culture that emphasizes the individual’s role in society and wishes to instil among the youths today, the core value of social responsibility. As such, her values, leadership skills and network help localize global goals by raising awareness of life-long learning, inspiring change by advocating a growth mindset and capacity building through constant up-skilling. |
DR. MAZIDAH BINTI MOHAMMADASSISTANT PROFESSOR at University Brunei Darussalam

Dr Siti Mazidah Haji Mohamad is an Assistant Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. She graduated from Durham University (PhD in Human Geography) in 2015. She is a geographer researching youth's mobilities, everyday socio-spatial practices, engagements and realities reflected through various new social media platforms. Her main research interest lies at the intersection of geographies of young people, geographies of digital media and popular culture, and geographies of religion. She has a special interest in affective labour/ practice and mobilities framework. Within this research area, she has studied: mediated Muslim cosmopolitanism; Bruneian youth self-disclosure on social media in the context of online privacy; influencers culture in the context of digital work and mobilities; micro-celebrities influence on Muslim women's hijab consumption; Muslims performance of religiosity on social media; and Brunei's young Muslims 'Generation M' expression of identity on Instagram and YouTube. She has recently published in Celebrity Studies (2019) and Tijdschrift voor Economische en Sociale Geografie (2020). Currently, she is leading funded research on youth mobilities through institutionalised mobilities programmes.
As an educator, she applies transformative and affective pedagogy in her teaching making use of youth learners' everyday lived experiences and emotion as valuable resources to encourage co-creation of knowledge and learning. On this note, she aspires for highly relatable and affective teaching and learning. |
DR. NOOR AFFIZAN |
Dr Noor Affizan is a consultant eye surgeon whose passion for personal development and social contribution has compelled her beyond her work in healthcare. She volunteers her time to speak at schools and organisations to empower young people towards a bright, purpose driven future.
In recognition of her work, she was selected as a finalist for the Women of the Future 2019 Southeast Asia Awards and listed on southeastasiawomen.org - a platform featuring outstanding women leaders from across Southeast Asia. In 2019, she founded You Can Lead BN an online platform listing global personal and professional development opportunities open to Bruneians. |
