Consultant and since her daughter’s birth, she now works at home as a freelance illustrator drawing personalized art for customers all over the world.
No matter where she worked, be it in a school classroom or towering offshore rig, an important lesson she learnt was that humility and respect moves mountains. It applies everywhere, no matter your position. As a teacher, she did her best to make her students feel heard. As an engineer, working knee-deep in grease and dirt taught her true grit and that rank didn’t equal immediate respect. It was a challenging journey but she was blessed to have met some incredible people who kindly lent her their time and wisdom. Through their belief and not a little tough love, they shaped her from an impulsive daydreamer to a more grounded, harder worker. When she became a freelancer, she learnt that one mustn’t just be professional but also sensitive and open. Her customers trust her to illustrate characters and stories that are deeply personal to them, so it was imperative for her to listen understandingly so she can best convey what they want in art. She's fortunate that many of her customers are happy with what she does for them. Though her careers are rather contrasting, She still believes in the value of humility and respect. One should also take pride and confidence in their work. Didi is the CEO of SMARTER Brunei.
SMARTER Brunei is a non-governmental organisation that focuses on providing world class quality services, programmes, training and employment to individuals with autism. She has worked with SMARTER Brunei for a decade and is dedicated to ensuring SMARTER Brunei continues to be innovative and proactive in advocating and upholding the rights of all individuals with autism and the differently-abled community. She has four (4) children, two (2) of which are autistic. Didi has spent majority of her life growing up with autism, as her brother is autistic as well. She has dedicated her life’s work towards being an active youth advocate and youth leader for differently-abled individuals. She hopes to bridge the gap between individuals with autism and the community. She is trained in Rights and Legislations Protection. She is active in promoting and developing employment training and opportunities for individuals with autism, as well as ensuring to reach SMARTER Brunei's goal of being an Autism Friendly Community. She is also an ASEFEDU Alumnus, a YSEALI Alumni and an AYPVC Alumni as well. |

Syahmi Zulfadhli or Mims is a multi-disciplined youth dabbling in multiple industries: Food & Beverage, Hotel, Hospitality and Tourism, and a knack in Media. Demonstrating a strong operations background with a BTEC HND Level 5 on Hospitality Management from Laksamana College of Business.
Confidence to others may seem unattainable but to Mims Sidi, it is what he is. Mims was rather timid and shy when he was younger but along the way after several metamorphoses and epiphanies, he managed to pull out a mask of confidence for the world to see. Professionally Mims is in a world of Marketing, Graphic Designing and Tourism. His portfolio of work started when he was 17 and his portfolio keeps on growing ever since.Mims believes in life-long learning: ask questions, be curious, be hungry for knowledge. He recognizes Emotional Intelligence, Interpersonal Communications and Creativity as essential skills to lead a meaningful life. Sharing is caring. Spread Love. Mims keep an active involvement in the local youth voluntary scene as Mims holds several positions under his belt. He is the Outgoing President of Cafe Hoppers Begawan, the newly-elected Curator for Global Shapers Community for term 21/22, a mentor in Young Professional Network, and an affiliate of CureHeart. |

RBAF is constantly recruiting and we do not want to miss out on talented and prospective officers in order to carry RBAF forward.

Muizz have been an officer of the Royal Brunei Navy for almost a decade. He admits that the journey he had gone through has been a rollercoaster ride from the moment he started. If you ask him, he would say that joining the military was never his first choice. Nevertheless, Muizz made the leap of faith and joined the officer cadet school. It was tough at first, however, through persistence and adaptability, he was able to get through the training.
One of the greatest lessons he learnt during his time in the military is that no matter what situation you are put in, you must be able to adapt to it, even when all odds are against you. If there is a will, there is a way. Thus, one of the biggest perceptions that he want to share is the idea that getting a job is not just a career. But it should be treated as a life choice. And he believes this does not apply only to the military but also to other lines of work. This is because you will either be spending a lot of time at work or thinking about work. Therefore, you must be prepared to accept this. With regards to the military, particularly the Officer Cadet School; a common misconception is the idea that the twelve (12) months training is very long. It is very important to get the basics right. However, upon commissioning is when reality strikes. “Getting a job is not just a career, but a life choice.” |

Currently a Community Development Officer at the Department of Community Development, Ashmeer is no stranger to the youth volunteering community. His previous roles in his community includes being the Treasurer of MPK Sengkurong A, the Youth Representative of Mukim Sengkurong, and he was the ex-President UBD Students’ Association between 2016 and 2018.
A community server, Ashmeer aims to help in supporting the community. Finding the cause that troubles them, and finding ways the government or NGOs could lower down their burden. A mentor with the Young Professional Network, Brunei; Ashmeer was the youngest mentor and now the core team member, targeting young adults in stepping up as leader. A friend that is there in every ups and downs, Ashmeer is always a listening ear to problems and to eager to find solutions together. A leader that loves to take on the responsibilities thrown at him, he is willing to step up in making tough decisions. Ashmeer finds pleasure in grooming other young colleagues to become fellow leaders. |
